Griff Creek Trail Details
This short, steep climb to the top of the Elwha River Range, although named after the lively Griff Creek, travels predominantly though montane forest that is largely devoid of a river. The trail is well maintained, and uses lots of long switchbacks through an old forest with lots of dense undergrowth until it reaches Griff Creek Gap, from which the ridgeline can be accessed with a little more climbing effort. Although the views from the Gap are decent, the observation point midway through the trail provides the best vistas over the Griff Creek drainage, Elwha River Range, Bailey Range, and Mount Carrie.
