Boulder Creek Trail Details
This level, well-maintained trail follows part of the old Elwha River Road until it reaches the wildly popular natural phenomenon known as Olympic Hot Springs. Discovered in 1892, the warm, bubbling pools of the springs remained inaccessible until the 1930s, when the Forest Service cut a road to the site. Shortly thereafter, a popular resort was built, but today, only the pools remain. Visitors are permitted to bathe in the springs, but at their own risk; contact wardens for more safety information. For a longer trail, a spur to the stunning Boulder Lake is marked near the springs.
