This family-friendly interpretative nature trail teaches park visitors about the most common ecosystem of the North Cascades. The trail leaves the amphitheater of Newhalem Creek Campground and following the path of the nearby Skagit River into a lush green forest, home to Douglas squirrels, Columbia blacktail deer, swallows, and many other animals. Plaques and signs are strategically placed along the trail and provide information about the park's many species of trees and plants.
