Agnes Gorge Details
Agnes Gorge Trail is an easy Stehekin day hike, and is known for the incredible profusion of wildflowers that bloom here in spring and summer. The trail is relatively flat and wanders through larch, fir, and pine groves that reveal signs that the Stehekin bear population visits the area: many tree trunks are marked with long claw marks. Almost halfway through the trail, you'll find yourself leaving North Cascades National Park and entering the U.S. Forest Service's Glacier Peak Wilderness. From here, the trail widens, and the evergreen canopy opens up, revealing distant views of Agnes Mountain. The best views, however, are a little further down the trail, where the view takes a dramatic turn and are dominated by a deep river gorge and a spectacular cascading waterfall. Find the trailhead via the Stehekin Valley Road or from Bridge Creek on the Old Wagon (PCT) Trail.
