Old Wagon Trail (Pacific Crest Trail) Details
The Old Wagon Trail is a section of the Pacific Crest Scenic Trail that stretches between Stehekin and Bridge Creek. After heavy washouts along the Stehekin Valley Road a few years ago, the Old Wagon Trail is now the only connecting trail between the Upper and Lower Stehekin Valleys, and is often a busy place in the fall when PCT hikers reach the area. The trail is an easy, enjoyable walk over rolling hills lined with a mosaic of ferns, thick undergrowth, and a towering mix of conifers and deciduous trees. Although it doesn't have a specific destination or attraction, there are an incredible number of spur trails and pretty backcountry campsites, and if you visit Bridge Creek there are a few cold but swimmable pools just beyond the bridge. The trailhead is at the High Bridge Ranger Station on Stehekin Valley Road, or access the trail via the Bridge Creek Trail/Pacific Crest Trail in the Upper Stehekin Valley.
