Shenandoah National Park, a majestic expanse spanning 105 miles of Virginia's Blue Ridge Mountains, offers four entrances for visitors to embark on their wilderness adventures: Front Royal (North Entrance), Thornton Gap, Swift Run Gap, and Rockfish Gap (South Entrance). From Washington, D.C. Metro Area: Front Royal/North Entrance: Take Interstate 66 and continue to Front Royal, Virginia. Then, follow the signs for Route 340 South, leading you to Shenandoah and Skyline Drive. Thornton Gap Entrance: Exit Interstate 66 at Exit 43A and proceed south on US 29 for 11 miles to Warrenton, Virginia. From there, take US 211 West for 28 miles to reach Shenandoah National Park and Skyline Drive. From Richmond, Virginia: Rockfish Gap/South Entrance: Travel west on Interstate 64 and take Exit 99. Follow the signs directing you to the park and Skyline Drive. From Charlottesville, Virginia: Swift Run Gap Entrance: Depart Interstate 64 in Charlottesville and head north on US 29 for 14 miles. Then, turn west onto US 33 for another 14 miles, following the signs leading to the park and Skyline Drive. Whether you're drawn to the scenic wonders of Front Royal, Thornton Gap, Swift Run Gap, or Rockfish Gap, each entrance serves as a gateway to the natural splendor and abundant adventures awaiting within Shenandoah National Park.
