For a family-friendly state park with tons of outdoor recreation activities, head to the northern shoreline of Silver Lake. This 35-acre park is buzzing every day of the summer season, thanks to its pristine sandy beach, manicured picnic grounds, and well-maintained campsites. Although most people come for a relaxing afternoon of swimming and sunbathing, others come to fish off the shore for perch, pike, and smallmouth bass. There is also a boat rental shop where you can hire kayaks and canoes if you want to paddle around the lake. Summer activities are not the only draw to this state park. In the winter, you will find people ice skating and ice fishing once the lake has frozen over.
