If you are looking for a more challenging hike to the summit, you can venture down the 6-mile Monroe Trail instead. Whichever way you choose, make sure to soak in the pristine views at the peak on a clear day, you can see Green Mountain Spine as well as the White Mountains in New Hampshire.
