Scorpions Details
A number of scorpion species live in Zion National Park, including the giant desert hairy scorpion, a small, light-brown or straw colored creature that usually lives under rocks, logs, and tree bark. The stings of the giant desert hairy scorpion can be quite painful, and produces an electric sensation. While most adults will recover from stings without medical treatment, some visitors may be allergic to the venom in these stings, and can experience life-threatening effects. Anyone experiencing difficulty breathing, muscle spasms, or hyperactivity, as well as small children, and visitors with a history of heart disease, should seek medical attention.
