Ranger Led Programs Details

There are a number of ranger-led programs in Capitol Reef. Both park guides and volunteers offer a variety of interpretive programs daily from the spring through fall. Although program types, times, and locations can vary or change, there are a few regular programs. The 20- to 30-minute geology talk usually takes place at 10 a.m. each day, wherein guests can learn more about the area's unique geology. Meet at the visitor center. The Fremont Culture Talk takes place at 3 p.m. daily, and guests can learn about the indigenous people who once called the area home. The talk lasts about 20 to 30 minutes and begins at the petroglyph panel, a little over a mile east of the visitor center on Hwy. 24. There are regular evening programs as well, lasting from 45 minutes to an hour. These take place in the Fruita Campground amphitheater, and guests can check at the visitor center or ask campground hosts for more details. There are also ranger-led hikes, ranger-guided visits to the Historic Fruita Schoolhouse, porch talks, and special programs such as night sky tours; check the visitor center for details.
