Notom-Bullfrog Road Details
The Notom-Bullfrog begins in the north at an intersection with Utah Hwy. 24, outside the park nine miles east of the Capitol Reef Visitor Center. It extends south to the Bullfrog Marina and Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, becoming the Burr Trail Road/BLM 12000 along the way. The road is paved for the first 10 miles before becoming a well-maintained dirt road and entering the park north of Cedar Mesa Campground. The scenic road runs along the eastern side of the Waterpocket Fold, offering access not only to the campground but also to backcountry trails such as Upper and Lower Muley Twist Canyons and Halls Creek Narrows. Portions of the road outside the park are paved, but most the Notom-Bullfrog road is dirt and subject to inclement weather conditions. Visitors are advised to check with the visitor center before driving any of the portion of the road.
