Colorado River Details
The 1,450-mile-long Colorado River meanders through the eastern edge of Canyonlands before joining with the Green River in the Maze Section of the park. The river has fostered large agrarian efforts for nearly to 8,000 years and currently provides water to much of the southwestern United States. The Colorado River may be the most controversial and fought-over river in the world as disputes between environmental, business and other interests continue to this day. We can thank the mighty river for shaping Canyonlands and the entire watershed into the chiseled marvel that we appreciate today.
