Tucked away on the outskirts of Del Rio sits the fourth largest swimming hole in all of Texas. These springs have over ten individual pools with water provided by the neighboring San Felipe Creek. The banks are surrounded by groves of native foliage, including maple trees, elm trees, and cattail bushes, and there's even a suspended railroad bridge that you can swim under. The waters are home to a variety of fish, including the Gambusia clarkshubbi, which was the first new fish species to be discovered in Texas in over 30 years. It was also where the Mexican blindcat (a rare breed of catfish) was found, although they have since been removed and sent to live in their new home in the San Antonio Zoo.
