With over 1,100-acres of unspoiled natural beauty to explore, this nature preserve has one of the most rugged beaches in Texas. It sits at the corner of three different bodies of water Matagorda Bay, the Colorado River, and the Gulf of Mexico, and offers visitors a wealth of spectacular landscapes and activities to take part in. There are plenty of fishing opportunities here on the river and in the ocean. You can cast off into one of the fishing piers or jetties to look for redfish, flounder, trout, and catfish. It is also a great place for wildlife watching and birding, as the diverse ecosystem provides a unique habitat for some of the areas most rural creatures. The park is also open to overnight guests, with multiple RV hookups and campsites near the water and inland.
