Martin Creek Lake State Park Details
In the heart of the East Texas Woods is a tranquil piece of land where you can spend the day participating in a number of fun outdoor activities. This 732-acre state park has year-round fishing, kayaking, hiking, and camping opportunities. The park and neighboring lake are named after Daniel Martin, a settler that lived in the area in the early 1800s. They created one of the first communities in the area called Harmony Hill. Although the town was abandoned after the Civil War, the land was bought by the Texas Utilities Generating Company, who gifted it to the state in 1976. Due to its location next to the power plant, the water in the lake is relatively warm throughout the year, which makes it a prime destination for boating and fishing. Guests can also explore the 4 miles of trails around the park or set up a tent at one of the primate campsites. Entrance Fees - Adult: $3 Daily - Child 12 Years and Under: Free Reservations are available [online] (https://texasstateparks.reserveamerica.com/martin-creek-lake-state-park/r/facilityDetails.do?contractCode=TX&parkId=1200121&_ga=2.260389640.447085507.1618845916-917412064.1616861417) or by calling (512) 389-8900
