Inner Space Cavern Details

Dating back over 25 million years, this karst cave is a fascinating insight into the world's geological history. Archeologists have discovered massive sinkholes and Ice-Age fossils of sabretooth tigers and baby mammoths hidden amongst the narrow tunnels and cathedral-style rooms. The cavern was discovered by accident in 1963 when a team from the Texas Highway Department started construction for an overpass. In total, over 1.2 miles of the cave system has been excavated and opened to the public, although it is believed that the majority of the caverns have not yet been discovered. Visitors can take a guided walking tour of the cavern or embark on a spelunking adventure through the labyrinth of chambers and passages.
