Falcon State Park Details
Located on the eastern shore of Falcon Reservoir, this park is known as one of the best freshwater fishing lakes in South Texas. The 576-acre park is on the southern end of the Falcon International Reservoir and spans the border with Mexico. In 1953, Mexican President Adolfo Ruiz Cortines and President Dwight D. Eisenhower dedicated Falcon Dam, which resulted in the Rio Grande creating the Falcon Reservoir. The 84,000-acre lake provides electrical power, flood control, and water to the surrounding communities. Visitors to the park can enjoy fishing, swimming, boating, and 2.8 miles of walking trails. Anglers will find largemouth bass and channel catfish. Birders will have a chance to see several tropical species that visit the lake. Campsites are available for overnight camping. Entrance Fees - Adult: $3 Daily - Adult (Holiday): $5 Daily - Child 12 Years and Under: Free Reservations are available [online] (https://texasstateparks.reserveamerica.com/camping/falcon-state-park/r/facilityDetails.do?contractCode=TX&parkId=1200034&_ga=2.72035667.1505092049.1617645325-917412064.1616861417) or by calling (512) 389-8900 The park often reaches capacity so reservations are highly recommended for both camping and day use.
