Dinosaurs once walked along the Paluxy River, you can experience their prehistoric footprints firsthand by doing the same. Discovered in 1908 by a nine-year-old boy after a historic flood, he found large, three-toed tracks. It wasn't until 1972 that the 1,587-acre park was created to preserve these unique treasures. Most visitors come to the park just for the dinosaur footprints. But you can also enjoy swimming and fishing in the river, hiking or biking on over 20 miles of trails of all levels, or just enjoying a quiet picnic along the river. Campsites are available for overnight camping.
