Dinosaur Valley trail Details

Walk in the footsteps of dinosaurs along this fascinating trail in Dinosaur Valley State Park. The 10-mile main track site is the best place to see footprints and trackways left by these gigantic prehistoric creatures over 113 million years ago. It is even the place where the first long-necked sauropod (the official dinosaur of Texas) prints were discovered! Many of the tracks are imprinted in the mud at the bottom of the shallow Paluxy River, so be prepared to get your feet wet during your trek. Depending on what time of the year you go, the water level may be too high for you to see the prints clearly, although a GPS app or guided ranger tour and help point you in the right direction. You will also want to look out for other living animals that live in the park, including armadillos and coyotes.
