Wildlife Details
The desert may at first appear lifeless, because many of its inhabitants are nocturnal, hiding underground during the day and coming out to hunt at night. Fox, coyote, mountain lions, bobcats, geckos and bats are some of the creatures on this list. During the day, there are a number of reptiles out and about, including rattlesnakes, several other non-poisonous snakes, prairie lizard, collared lizard, crevice spiny lizard and many others. These reptiles mostly live in the park's rocky canyons. Near some of the park's wetlands, you might see mule deer or javelinas. At higher elevations you might find black bear, mule deer, elk, raccoon, skunk and mountain lions.
