Kid-friendly options Details
The park has a junior ranger program, which awards a junior ranger patch to kids who complete a junior ranger activity booklet during their trip. Kids can also opt to participate in the Wilderness Ranger program, the Night Sky Ranger program or the Junior Paleontologist program. The paleontology program takes kids through an activity book about the area's history as a fossil reef. The Night Sky Ranger program teaches kids about the constellations they see, and how the National Parks Service protects those constellations by mitigating light pollution. Wilderness Rangers learn about the park's 46,850 acres of wilderness land, what makes a wilderness, and why wilderness is important.
