Mariscal Canyon Rim Trail Details

The Mariscal Canyon Rim Trail is one of the more difficult trails to access, but the long drive is worth it for the amazing views once you are on the hike. It is a 6.6-mile out and back trail that is relatively flat for the first part, but then gets extremely steep as you climb to the top of the canyon. The possibility of animal sightings is high as this part of the park is far removed from regular human contact. This is one of the better hikes if you are looking for an example of the amazing solitude that is possible in Big Bend. Make sure to bring lots of water and sunscreen as there is no shade for the entire hike. To access the Mariscal Canyon Rim Trail, you will need to take Talley Road via the River Road East. The trailhead is at the end of Talley Road.
