Rio Grande Village Details
The Rio Grande Village is known for being the best place in the park for birding year-round. The Rio Grande Village Nature Trail crosses over a beaver pond which is home to herons, ducks, kingfishers and many more. The village itself is usually packed to capacity in late November through December because of the amazing opportunities to see birds of all kinds. A new wildlife viewing platform has just been installed at the beaver pond that will allow visitors to get much closer to the wildlife in the area and promotes the already supremely popular birding that the area is famous for. In addition to birds, the area is popular with beaver, turtles and a wide variety of other animals seeking asylum from the harsh desert landscape.
