Lower Burro Mesa Pouroff Details
At the end of a 1.5 mile side road off of the Ross Maxwell Scenic Drive sit the colorful cliffs of Burro Mesa. Once at the base of the cliffs there is a 0.5 mile hike to a hidden box canyon where you can find amazing rock formations and even a dry waterfall. The dry waterfall has smoothed the rock into a tall, stunning chute, providing beautiful views and maybe a fun photo op under the chute. This highly underrated stop is a peaceful place to see some unique geological features and a wide variety of desert plants, especially cacti.
