Chisos Basin Visitor Center Details

The Chisos Basin Visitor Center can be accessed by the Chisos Basin Road. The visitor center features interactive exhibits on the wildlife and plants of the Chisos Mountains and the unique habitat the mountains provide in contrast to the generally arid desert climate. Inside, there is also a Big Bend Natural History Association bookstore as well as restrooms. As with all visitor centers, $12 backcountry and river permits can be purchased at the Chisos Basin Visitor Center, and entrance fees can be paid here as well. Along the east side of the building, a water faucet is available for filling up all manner of personal water containers.
