Backcountry Information Details
Exploring the backcountry areas of the riverbank, desert and mountains are great ways of seeing parts of the park that most people don't get to experience. A permit is required for all backcountry activities including, camping, river trips and horseback riding. You are allowed to bring your own gear for all of the above activities, or you can rent from a local vendor. Backcountry permits can be obtained at all visitor centers during regular business hours for a $12 fee.
