Fairgrounds Tour Details
This is the most strenuous cave tour available at Wind Cave National Park, and the one with the most diverse sights. The tour travels 2/3-mile and climbs or descends 450 steps; one section alone ascends 89 stairs. Plan to spend about an hour and a half on the tour. You'll explore both the upper and middle levels of the cave, and get to see boxwork, flowstone, and cave popcorn. You'll visit the Elks Room, Fairgrounds, Fallen Flats, Summer Avenue, and the Temple. This tour happens only during the summer, and costs $12 for adults, and $6 for seniors or kids ages 6-16. Kids ages five and under tour for free. From early June through early August the tour runs at 9:40 a.m., 10:20 a.m., 11:40 a.m., 12:20 p.m., 1:40 p.m., 2:20 p.m., 3:40 p.m., and 4:20 p.m.. Three tours per day are offered from May through early June. From early August through Labor Day, the tour runs at 9:30 a.m., 11:20 a.m., 1:20 p.m., and 3:20 p.m.
