Carson Drew Trail System Details

This seven-mile system of trails is located in the northwestern Sundance region of the park. It is made up of one major loop and three spur trails. The main trail is 3.8 miles long, and the side trails are one-mile, two-miles, and 0.7 miles, respectively. The trails are open all four seasons and are frequented by hikers, bikers, horseback riders, and cross-country skiers. The Carson Drew trails are quieter and less frequented than some of the others in the area. You'll pass through pine, oak, and aspen forests teeming with wildlife. The trails are all rated moderate. The trail system dates back to the 1800s, built by pioneers and miners as they settled in the region. One of those families was named Carson, hence the name Carson Draw Trail System. To access the trailhead, take Highway 14 west to FSR 838. The trailhead is two miles down FSR 838.
