Upon entering the grounds of Mount Rushmore National Monument, the main walkway leads visitors beneath the flags of all 56 U.S. states and territories before widening onto the Grand View Terrace. From this vantage point, the monument towers overhead: George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln in all of their sculpted glory.
