Evening Lighting Ceremony Details
From May through September, an evening lighting ceremony takes place in the outdoor amphitheater prior to lighting the memorial for the night; the amphitheater is positioned below the sculpture with plenty of seating, all with incredible views. During the ceremony, a National Park Service park ranger gives a brief talk about the memorial and may show a film illustrating its construction. Afterwards, U.S. veterans in the audience are asked to help with the flag-lowering ceremony, and the monument is lit for the night.
