Camping is free at the primitive Sage Creek Campground. The campground is located in the North Unit off Sage Creek Rim Road, close to the Badlands Wilderness Area. Pit toilets are available; however no running water is provided. This site is a first-come, first-serve campground with an area for horse use, as well. The unpaved road to the campground may be closed in the winter and during the rainy spring season.
