Plan Around Hiking
A good stop is not just something to read about. Once it belongs on the day, move into a saved trip and build the route around it.
Use this detail page to confirm that the stop is worth it, then carry that decision into a trip draft while the park context is still fresh.
Hiking Details
Depending on how much time and energy you have during your visit, choose from any of the paths that follow the 25 miles of hiking trails in the park, or the 2.4 miles of boardwalk. Regardless of which of the nine park trails you choose, ranging from 0.3 to 11.7 miles, all leave from the visitor center. No matter which hike you embark upon, be sure to pay attention to safety guidelines to thoroughly enjoy your visit: leave your planned route with someone before embarking on your hike; check the weather forecast; hike with a friend; always carry a map and a compass; do not leave marked trails; bring a flashlight; dress accordingly; and carry plenty of water-the park suggests a minimum of one liter of water, but two liters are recommended.
