Use this detail page to confirm that the stop is worth it, then carry that decision into a trip draft while the park context is still fresh.
Camping Details
Camping is available year-round in Congaree National Park, but keep in mind that the summer months are very hot and humid. Both frontcountry and backcountry camping is permitted within the park, each carrying its own fees. In the frontcountry, camping is available at Longleaf Campground ($10/night for a regular tent site, $20/night for a group site; [reservations required]( http://www.recreation.gov/camping/congaree-national-park/r/campgroundDetails.do'contractCode=NRSO&parkId=74318)], 877-444-6777) and Bluff Campground ($5/night for a regular tent site). Backcountry camping is free of charge, though a permit can be obtained at the Longleaf Campground; a valid state-issued ID is required to register. Seniors and Access Pass holders receive a 50% discount on camping fees. Only tent camping is permitted; fires are permitted only in the fire rings in Longleaf and Bluff campgrounds; dead wood may be collected for firewood, but no live trees should be cut; and no one may camp within the park for more than 14 consecutive days, and no more than 28 days within a six-month period.
