Ranger-Led Programs Details

Park rangers guide all boat tours and trolley tours, as well as snowshoe tours in the winter and guided hikes in the summer. Visit the visitor center for a schedule of when and where ranger programs take place. Park rangers also give talks and evening lectures. The "Discovering Crater Lake Talks," are 20 minutes long and take place at the Sinnott Memorial Overlook from June through August. The rangers talk about the history of Crater Lake and how it was formed. "Ranger's Choice Talks" are given daily on the back porch of the Crater Lake Lodge, on topics chosen by each ranger. Rangers also present longer evening talks at the Mazama Campground Amphitheater most days from June through Labor Day, on a range of topics about the park's cultural and geological history. A schedule of events can be found in each of the park's visitor centers and in the park's newsletter, Reflections.
