Hiking Details
Crater Lake National Park has over 90 miles of hiking trails, varying in length, difficulty, and terrain with the option backpacking trips that connect with the Pacific Crest Trail. Most of the hikes start at or above 6,000 feet above sea level, and climb anywhere from 500 to 1,500 feet. Many of the hikes offer beautiful vistas of the lake. Others travel inland, exploring forests, ridge lines, and even a few waterfalls. Be aware of your fitness levels and allow yourself time to acclimatize before attempting one of the more challenging, high-altitude hikes. No matter your fitness, bring more water than you might normally need: dehydration happens faster and more easily at these elevations.
