With the help of over 2,500 volunteers, Cuyahoga Valley National Park (CVNP) is recognized for having one of the most active Volunteers-in-Parks (VIP) programs in the National Park Service (NPS). Volunteers support many areas of park management, including research, data entry, public programming, environmental education, photography, mapping, natural resource protection, trail patrol, and maintenance. Countryside Farmers' Market Volunteers Join the excitement surrounding fresh and local foods. Opportunities include parking assistance, staffing the information table, setting up and tearing down, taking photographs, assisting chefs with cooking demonstrations, and providing office support. Opportunities include special events assistant, conductor, mechanic, brakeman, trainman, concessionaire, and office help. For more information, go to: http://www.cvsr.com/volunteer Cycling Schools Volunteers Assistants needed to bike with innercity school groups on the Towpath Trail. Bring your own bike, helmet, and sack lunch. Weekdays in late May and early June; also September through November. GO Crew! Do you enjoy working with kids and being outside? GO Crew! volunteers help with the Get Up, Get Out & Go! program, activities at Music in the Meadow concerts, and service-learning projects. Kitchen Assistants Help kitchen staff at Cuyahoga Valley Environmental Education Center assemble, package, and deliver foods to the Trail Mix store. Multiple shifts per week needed. Watershed Stewards Residents of CVNP's watershed communities are needed to attend monthly public decision-making meetings (Council/Planning Commission) to promote watershed stewardship. Wetland Monitors Volunteer with the wetland monitoring program by measuring water levels at groundwater wells. Training and measuring device provided. Drop-in Volunteer Opportunities Help with trail maintenance and exotic plant management projects. No longterm commitment needed.
