Lined with shady trees and shrubby undergrowth, this section of the Towpath Trail begins at one of the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad boarding stations, and follows the canal, now unwatered, over level terrain. The trail passes the junction of the Cuyahoga River and Chippewa Creek, and encounters a number of bridges, including a wood-floored iron bridge dating 1881, and a wooden bridge near the junction of this trail and the Bike and Hike Trail. This section ends near the sandstone and concrete remains of Lock 34, or Red Lock.
