Station Road Bridge Trailhead Details
Built in 1881, and later reconstructed in 1992, this through truss bridge spanning the Cuyahoga River is one of the park's National Historic Landmarks, and certainly one of its most photographed. The iron bridge measures almost 129 feet, and is open to foot traffic only. Just north of the Station Road trailhead, the sunny, cottonwood-filled area around the bridge is reportedly a nesting site for bald eagles and great blue heron, as well as a number of other small fauna. Just behind the bridge is another, much more elegant and impressive bridge: the Route 83 bridge, which is spans the valley at a height higher than that of the Statue of Liberty. The trailhead is also a primary depot of the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad, and provides access to the Towpath Trail. This large parking lot has approximately 100 parking spaces.
