Scenic Train Ride Details

If you aren't in the mood for a hike, hop aboard Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad and take in the park via train. The train departs from Rockside Station in Independence and winds its way through the park to Akron Northside Station. The Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad first operated in 1880 as a coal trim between Cleveland, Akron, Canton and the Tuscarawas River Valley. In addition to a coal train, passenger cars were added, offers city residents the chance to "get away". After several years of decreased traffic, the tourist train was born in 1972 by the Cuyahoga Valley Preservation and Scenic Railway Association. Today the train is operated by the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad, a local non-profit. If you are itching for a little exercise, you can take the train just one way.
