Hale Farm Trail Details
One of the newer trails in the CVNP system, this was designed to connect the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath with the historic Hale Farm & Village, and in doing so yields a pleasurable, easy hike. Passing Indigo Lake, a truly blue lake that was "accidentally" created when a bulldozer struck an underground aquifer, the level trail travels through a mixed deciduous forest scattered with boulders deposited during the last advance of the glaciers thousands of years ago. A stately grove of black walnut trees signals the end of the trail as opens up for a bucolic glimpse of the Hale Farm & Village.
