Big Bend Trailhead Details
According to legend, the Big Bend area was developed during the war of 1812 as an a building site for naval ships. The river, having since shrunk in width and depth, remains the focal point for the area. One of the park's somewhat less visited areas, this area of the towpath is home to beaver habitats, shady canopies of aquatic-loving native trees. The trail, which makes up a segment of the Towpath Trail, is a narrow, crushed-stone path hugging the Cuyahoga's banks. The peaceful riverside has a number of great spots for catch-and-release fishing, and even a few boardwalks for better views of river wildlife. This large parking lot has approximately 40 spaces.
