Longhorn Pullout Details
A small group of Texas longhorns have been kept in the North Unit as living history. In the 1800s, cattle were driven up the Long X Trail from the southern states to Montana and North Dakota. The herd you see in the park today was established in 1967. It can be challenging to see the steer from the overlook, so be sure to bring your binoculars.
