Juniper Campground Details
Juniper is one of two main campgrounds open year-round in Theodore Roosevelt National Park. It is located about four miles from the North Unit entrance and a great base from which to explore that section of the park. Like the Cottonwood Campground, there are shady sites under Cottonwood trees and near the Little Missouri River. The 50 campsites are first-come, first-served with the exception of one group site (six people or more) that is available by reservation only. Make a reservation by calling 1-877-444-6777 or going to [recreation.gov](http://www.recreation.gov/camping/juniper-campground-group-site/r/campgroundDetails.do?contractCode=NRSO&parkId=72481). Pull-through and back-in sites are equipped with a picnic table and fire pit and allow up to six people and two vehicles. No hook-ups for water, sewer, or electrical are available. The campground is outfitted with flush toilets and water spigots spread around the grounds, but no showers. During the winter months, these facilities are limited to pit toilets and a handful of working water spigots. A dump station is available during the busy season. Summer fees are $14 per night for individual sites, $30 per night for the group site. The winter fee for an individual site is $7 per night. The exact line between summer and winter varies each year according to the weather conditions. Local firewood must be purchased outside of the park but within North Dakota, to limit the spread of invasive tree-killing pests. Pets are allowed but must be kept on-leash and may not be left unattended at any time. Horses are allowed only at the Roundup Group Horse Campground; reservations are required. Juniper Campground has two wheelchair-accessible campsites and two restrooms that meet ADA access requirements.
