Plan Around Poisonous Snakes
A good stop is not just something to read about. Once it belongs on the day, move into a saved trip and build the route around it.
Use this detail page to confirm that the stop is worth it, then carry that decision into a trip draft while the park context is still fresh.
Poisonous Snakes Details
There are two kinds of poisonous snakes found in the Smokies, the timber rattlesnake and the northern copperhead. Snake bites are quite rare, and no lethal bites have ever been recorded in the park, but visitors, especially those with curious young children, should take caution around places where snakes tend to live, including old buildings, stone walls, and piles of boulders. Handle snake sightings with care, and do not attempt to catch or touch snakes.
