The Oconaluftee Visitor Center is adjacent to the Mountain Farm Museum and has a Great Smoky Mountains Association bookstore and shop, public restrooms, telephones, soda and water machines. Rangers lead seasonal education programs here, and you also can pick up a backcountry permit from the visitor center. The facility is open daily every day of the year except Christmas.
