First Tunnel Details
This is first of two tunnels built by road engineers to help ease the strain of driving cars over the steep Newfound Gap Road. Just past the tunnel is the trailhead for the Chimney Tops Trail, another steep ascent two miles through the forest and up to the summit of the Chimney Tops.
