Andrews Bald Details
Like Gregory Bald, this alpine meadow is one of the two maintained by the park, and although it is less popular than Gregory, it contains many of the same attractions, like the brilliant rhododendrons and sunny slopes. This is the higher of the two balds, and was also once a popular place to graze livestock. Although the actual summit is forested, the southern slope is home to a few acres of grassy meadows fighting reforestation. The ascent is rough and rocky, often with poor footing, and runs under the evergreen canopy of Forney Ridge. There are excellent southern views from the bald.
