Clingmans Dome Trail Details

Claiming the title of the highest mountain in the Smokies, the highest point in Tennessee, and the highest point on the Appalachian Trail, this popular park destination is accessible by both a paved road and a number of hiking trails, most of which are about 13 miles and wind through old spruce and fir forests. The mountain's immense popularity comes from the 54-foot observation tower. The tower, which doubles as an Environmental Protection Agency station, is accessible from a short, but incredibly steep trail from the summit, and provides truly incredible, 360-degree views up to 100 miles over the Smokys.
