Horseback Riding Details
Horses and other pack animals are allowed in the backcountry to either assist on backpacking trips or just for recreational purposes. They are also allowed on all trails except for the Wheeler Peak Day Use Area trails, Osceola Ditch trail, Lexington Arch trail, and Baker to Johnson Lake Cutoff trail. Horses are not permitted on paved roads, in campgrounds or other developed areas such as visitor center areas and picnic areas. If you are going to be bringing any horses or pack animals into the park, make sure they they are eating weed-free food the week before they enter the park to help prevent the spread of non-native weed species. Don't tie up animals to any historic park structures or to vegetation that may be damaged.
