Climbing Details

Thought climbing isn't a very popular activity in Great Basin National Park, the few that dare to climb the alpine landscape are treated to views rarely seen by other humans. Due to the loose and brittle condition of the rock, very few climbs are attempted each year. However if you do choose to climb, make sure to bring chalk and hooks that blend into the grayish rock. If you are planning a climb, make sure you are capable of self-rescue due to the remote nature of the park and lack of cellphone service. Climbing is most popular in the summer in order to avoid freezing temperatures and avalanches. Before embarking on any climbing adventures, check in with a park ranger for information on current rock and weather conditions.
